a. [Translation: On one of the peaks overlooking the pass that connects the Orontes valley with the Mediterranean basin, stands the Kalaat el-Hosn. This is the modern name of the fortress that we find the chroniclers of the Crusades designated by the name of Krak or Crat of the Knights, and was named by the Arab historians ‘’Castle of Kurds’’.][10]
